From Rexburg to St. George…

May 6, 2020

We’re Moving in August!

Rexburg, it’s been a good year and a half, but life is taking us on our next journey. We’ve made so many friends in this small town through our business and we’re so grateful for the many double dates we had with all of you. But don’t be sad, because this won’t be the last you see of us! We will be back to fulfill our current commitments to shoots already booked after August.

There are a lot of things that led us to making this decision, and we think you guys should know exactly what brought us here! But I’ll keep it to the point. So here we go.

Our roots.

Brad and I are both originally from Boise, ID. Our families live there, and that’s where we always thought we’d end up. And who knows, in the end, maybe we will. But for now, St. George, UT is where we know we need to be.

Despite our individual years of photo and video experience, we officially started this business in January 2019. Things took off when we got married that March. We were both students, working, and maintaining this business all at once. It was a lot. As business grew and photography began to pull us away from school, we began to think. Maybe school wasn’t the path we needed to take. Maybe we were being led in another direction.

We thought about this for MONTHS. We were at a point where we simply couldn’t give 100% to school and to photography at the same time. Besides, we were going to school to prepare for a career, but photography had become our career. And this was what we wanted to do forever.

Emily finally got her Associates Degree in December. Then we both took a semester off to test the waters. It ended up being our busiest few months of business yet. Then Spring semester came along and it was time to decide. We both felt confident and decided it was time to make the jump. We dropped out of school. And it felt so right.

Some people might say we’re crazy for dropping out. Some might say we’re irresponsible. But life always takes you places you never thought you’d go. I never thought I’d drop out of college! But at this point, I know it would have been irresponsible if I didn’t. I made this youtube video going more in depth about why dropping out was the best decision for me, I’d love it if you watched and subscribed (:

So the next question was: What now? We were only in Rexburg for school. But now that we were done with school and ready to pursue everything this business had to offer, we had to really chase it. Where would we go? It was really scary to think about what was next!

St. George.

Like I said, the plan had always been Boise, but Boise wasn’t calling our name quite yet. We wanted an adventure, something new, something that would bring us opportunities we wouldn’t get anywhere else.

We had recently gone on a photo retreat to St. George. And while we were there, we had mentioned we’d love to live there. We did some research. We looked at housing, the surrounding areas, business opportunities. And the more we thought about it, the more it felt right. It felt SO right. It became very clear. This was where we needed to go. We were ready to be Southern Utah wedding photographers.

So we made our decision, and we sat on it for a while. We wanted to see how we felt as time went on. And we had to figure out the details before we announced it to all our clients. We only got more excited as time went on. We had never felt so good about a decision (besides marrying each other of course ; ). And now, most of the small details are decided, so it’s time to share our big news with all of you.

Our next adventure.

Rexburg, thank you for the memories! You’ve been the foundation of this business and we are so grateful for what we’ve learned here. But now, it’s time for us to base our photography and videography out of St. George.

Thank you for supporting us all along the way and for helping us get to where we are now. Life is an adventure, and we couldn’t be more excited to see where it takes us next.
